Marie obtained her Master's degree in law specialising in European law, with distinction, from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in 2011. During her Masters, Marie did an Erasmus placement in Vienna and wrote her dissertation on the European Frontex Regulation.
Before becoming a lawyer, Marie completed several legal internships in European and international law at the European Parliament, Eurojust (The Hague) and the Federal Public Service Justice. She also obtained a certificate in International Humanitarian Law from the Belgian Red Cross.
She then joined Alber & Geiger as a barrister at the beginning of 2013, which enabled her to handle a large number of contentious cases in European and international law.
Since 2015, Marie has been focusing more on Belgian law and procedures, and on commercial law in particular (including insolvency law).
This focus led her to join Bolle, Hillen and Tilleux in the "Everest" structure in 2017, before accompanying them in the "ebl redsky" adventure.
Marie is a great lover of theatre, contemporary dance and hockey, which she practices alternately. She's also had a passion for animals, both large and small, ever since she was a little girl. As well as her work, Marie is a volunteer with a social non-profit organisation and is particularly sensitive to migration issues.
Marie is called upon to assist with company liquidations, manage construction and/or liability litigation (including expert appraisal procedures), negotiate out-of-court settlements and analyse legislative reforms in Belgian and European law.
Her experience has enabled her to acquire agility in cases involving multiple interlocutors and, of course, in pleadings.
Above all, Marie's focus is on people, and she is sensitive to the needs of those who consult her, whether entrepreneurs or company directors. Flexible by nature and with a creative streak, she has no hesitation in proposing alternative or even innovative solutions when conventional avenues fail.
